Tower of Power es una banda estadounidense de funk y soul.
La historia de la banda comienza en el verano de 1968, cuando Emilio Castillo conoce a Stephen "Doc" Kupka en Oakland, California. Kupka había hecho una audición durante el ensayo de The Motowns, la anterior banda de Emilio, y el padre de éste se presentó inmediatamente para advertirle: "Quédate con el chico: tiene algo". El saxo barítono de Doc pasó a formar parte de la sección de vientos de la banda de Castillo, que, desde ese momento, pasó a llamarse Tower of Power.
Tower of Power is an American R&B and funk band and horn section, originating in Oakland, California, that has been performing since 1968. The band has had a number of lead vocalists, the best-known being Lenny Williams, who fronted the band between early 1973 and late 1974, the period of their greatest commercial success. They have had eight songs on the Billboard Hot 100;[2] their highest-charting songs include "You're Still a Young Man", "So Very Hard to Go", "What Is Hip?", and "Don't Change Horses (in the Middle of a Stream)".
