The mission of the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center is "to educate, incite and entertain learners of all ages in the sciences and humanities by actively engaging them in the exploration of astronomy, aviation, Earth and space science."
Our guest, Jeanne Gerulskis will share with us 'What's up at the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center?' We will first look back at 2020 for a short discussion on the challenges of COVD-19 and its effects on the Discovery Center operations as well as a recap of the year's events and exhibits.
Looking ahead to 2021, the center will focus on improving and adding to its regular feature events within the restrictions and limitations of COVID-19. Many programs and exhibits are available in a virtual environment as well as several of the planetarium shows. 2021 will mark the 35th anniversary of Christa McAuliffe’s Challenger mission (January 28) and the 50th anniversary of Alan Shepard’s Apollo 14 moon landing (February 5 & 6.) Stop by the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center and be sure to visit them on the web at www.starhop.com.
