A talk with Grant Maloy Smith who is an American Roots Singer/Songwriter with a country bent. His songs tell heartfelt stories about real people, and are unfailingly optimistic and forward looking. His 2013 album YELLOW TRAILER earned rave reviews, including this one from the Aquarian “...Smith’s lyrical work is just as impressive from track to track, staying true to folk style storytelling in music while keeping it sounding fresh and enjoyable.” Grant is a member of the Recording Academy (the Grammys®), and is a BMI Recording artist. His upcoming album DUST BOWL is being released nationally and internationally in June 2016.
The Indie Music Collaborative was created by Grant and Eileen who believe music flourishes best through a collaborative effort. That often means writing/ producing/ performing together, sharing information, attending each others' concerts, turning to each other for business, marketing, and artistic advice, and supporting one another in both exciting and (sadly) darker moments throughout our careers. We hope this will be the first of many networking events that will allow us to create a cohesive, supportive, and vigorous music community. The Indie Music Collaborative goal is to provide a meaningful and fun networking experience. Each hour will include time for "informal chatting," as well as an opportunity for attendees to formally address the group about who they are, what they do, and what needs they may have. http://grant-maloy-smith.com/Indie/ May 2 • Philadelphia, June 13 • Chicago, August 29 • Atlanta
