On Thursday March 7th at 5pm enjoy the film “Hawaiiana”. It examines the enduring legacy of Winona “Aunty Nona” Beamer, a venerated educator, storyteller, composer and hula expert who dedicated her life to the aloha spirit. After the film there will be a Q&A with Keola & Moana Beamer and Tom Vendetti. At 7pm Sound of Tibet and Peace will screen, featuring the world-renowned Tibetan Flautist Nawang Khechog and his life story. He will conduct a Q&A after the film. All proceeds will go to the Proarts Playhouse.
On Friday March 3rd there will be two shows, 5pm and 7:30 pm featuring world peace films and a concert.
The show will open with Tom Vendetti’s film “Himalayan Prayer for World Peace”, followed by a concert by Nawang Khechog. Nawang Khechog is the first Tibetan Grammy Nominee and the most renowned Tibetan flutist in the world. After the concert the short film “Super Monk” will screen. The journey of an eleven-year-old monk, who applies Buddha's teachings of compassion and joy in an unconventional way. All proceeds go to the Mohala Hou Foundation to teach children in Bhutan the ukulele. The two evenings are sponsored by the KAIO Radio Group.
