Donald Trump has done it again. His appointment of Peter Navarro to lead a new White House National Trade Council is unmistakably signaling that America is coming back.

Professor Navarro is a Harvard-trained economist. He is also one of this country’s most thoughtful and articulate opponents of Communist China’s predatory trade practices and currency manipulation. In an array of books, videos and articles, he has espoused a dramatic policy course correction. Now, he’ll have a chance to implement it.

In particular, Dr. Navarro makes clear in his introduction to the Center for Security Policy’s recent book, Warning Order: China Prepares for Conflict and Why We Must Do the Same, that intensive trade relations with the Chinese won’t necessarily assure peace. Rather, what’s required is “comprehensive national power.”

Peter Navarro will help Donald Trump acquire and wield it.
