God is not, in essence, male. Jesus said in John 4, "God is Spirit..." God created both male and female in His image. So the ideal qualities of "MOM" that we all know and honor; qualities of sacrificial giving and nurture and love; those qualities come from the character and nature of God. God is a giver... and because this is true, Mom is a giver as well! With this backdrop, why is it that so many of the most influential characters in the Bible were born to barren women? What is God trying to say to all of us in these uniquely repetitive hardships that resulted in such influential people such as Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Samuel, and John the Baptist?
