Everyone's opinion isn't equal. It may be politically incorrect to say so... ...but if I'm looking to solve a problem, I value the opinion of someone who's had a measure of success with the issue in question more than the person who has not.
In his book, "Principles," Ray Dalio suggests that the best opinions are from people who:
1) Can logically describe how to handle the problem
2) Have successfully solved similar problems in the past
Dalio is founder of Bridgewater, the most successful hedge fund manager in history. He's knows for creating an "idea meritocracy" at his organization that allowed for efficient problem solving.
