23 Moses and Aaron then went into the tent of meeting. When they came out, they blessed the people; and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people. 24 Fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted for joy and fell face down. (Leviticus 9:23-24)
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy that was set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. (Hebrews 12:1-3)
Joy! A wonderful word in relation to the Christian believer. Joy, a word which is often misused and often misunderstood in the life of the Christian! If that is so, what is true Christian joy? Is joy merely a form of bloated happiness as many people believe, including those in the church? Can joy be seen as going around everywhere with a silly grin etched into your face! That kind of joy is dependent upon circumstances and feelings! True joy is not to be confused with mere pleasure or feeling good!
So if that is what joy is not, what is joy in regard to the Christian and their life? Come and explore what the Bible has to say about God, the Christian and joy. What is true joy for the Christian? What does Jesus have to do with joy – in his earthly life and in his being now? How can the Christian recognize true joy? These and other questions we seek to answer! So come on in! Let’s discover together more about the Christian and joy, by listening to the podcast!
