Afghanistan foreign minister Haneef Atmar said India's role in the peace process in Afghanistan is critical, but disagreed with former president Hamid Karzai for the need of a transitional or interim government in Afghanistan. He said president Ashraf Ghani had agreed to bring forward the elections process in Afghanistan and that the Taliban should participate in those elections and come to power.
