Port of Galway included in major EU transport funding programme

The Port of Galway has been included in a major EU transport funding programme. 

The EU Transport Council has reached an agreement to see the facility included in the European TEN-T Network for the first time. 

It supports transport infrastructure projects, including road, rail, inland waterways and ports. 

CEO of Galway Port is Conor O' Dowd - speaking to Galway Talks, he says this is a major step forward for the West of Ireland. 

And he's hopeful that the planned redevelopment of Galway Port will get the green light next year.
