This week we began a new series looking at Worship: What does it mean? Who is it for? How does it work? The idea of worship may seem strange in today's world: something archaic or religious. But it's all about 'worth' (that's where the word comes from). What do we value? How do we prioritise? How do we make fundamental choices? Our answers will emerge from the deep rhythms of our lives.
Worship is a practice that engages with the deepest, elemental parts of our being. It is foundational to the human experience: so fundamental that, like breathing, we are oblivious to it much of the time. Jamie considers the relationship between music and worship, and unpacks three common preconceptions that can be unhelpful in our engagement with worship.
