Judy Ward | James 1:27-2:6
Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in filthy old clothes also comes in. If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,” have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?
Or... suppose the whole congregation is invited to breakfast, and while a wealthy few are given a full meal, most only have toast and a real outsider just a glass of water? Listen to the beginning of the recording to find out. Judy Ward goes on to explain the work of Christians Against Poverty in freeing people trapped in unpayable debt, and challenges us to respond to the needs, often hidden, around us.
The recording also includes an introduction from Jess Green, the reading from Janet Chalmers and a prayer from Rachel Fasham..
