What was Jonah thinking when he jumped on a ship to escape God? Even the pagan sailors are in disbelief (Jonah 1: 10). What is Jonah thinking as he goes below deck to sleep, say's 'throw me overboard', sinks deep into the sea, hangs out the belly of the fish (or Sheol) for a few days, walks 400 miles to Nineveh, preaches judgement and then awaits compassion instead?
