According to the National Institute of Mental Health an estimated 3.1 million adolescents aged 12 to 17 in the United States had at least one major depressive episode in 2016. An estimated 2.2 million of these children experienced severe impairment and only 19 percent of them received care from a health professional.
Depression, anxiety, and behavioral problems tend to co-exist and we are seeing these diagnosis in increasing numbers. In this episode we were joined by Jalea Seals, Licensed Professional Counselor from 212 Behavioral in Fort Worth Texas who shared about anxiety and depression in children and adolescents.
