It’snow just a question of time. Specifically, when will President Obama pardon Hillary Clinton?

Thatquestion was the inevitable take-away from New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’spowerful indictment – literally – of the former Secretary of State in hisaddress to the GOP Convention last night. The one-time federal prosecutor methodically laid out the litany oflies, malfeasant and other criminal activities with which Mrs. Clinton could,and should, be charged. The crowd foundher “guilty,” again and again.

Naturally,the most politicized Justice Department ever won’t prosecute the incipientDemocratic presidential nominee. ButGov. Christie showed how – all other things being equal – Hillary will be triedand convicted in the court of public opinion.

Theonly possible way out is for President Obama to pardon her preemptively – andsoon. It may not change the ultimateverdict, but it would commute Hillary’s sentence.
