In the interest of the growing debate within the socialist movement, we’re publishing a segment from a 2018 debate between Bhaskar Sunkara, the editor of Jacobin Magazine, and John Peterson, the editor of Socialist Revolution. It’s not only an interesting exchange between two different publications, but also two different outlooks, methods, and programs that are being proposed as a way forward for this movement. In this first part of the debate, they answer the question: "What is socialism?"
