Director Melisa Staples and Assistant Director Carolyn Royer of the New Hampshire State Police Forensic. This week is National Forensic Science Week and we are recognizing the amazing staff in the lab.
The New Hampshire State Police Forensic Laboratory is the sole provider of forensic services within the state. The organization is responsible for providing this service to two hundred and sixty city and town police agencies, ten county sheriff’s departments, and nine state agencies. In 2022, the forensic lab received more than 18,000 items of evidence related to criminal cases throughout the state. The lab has 39 Criminalist positions, which handled more than 12,000 requests for analysis and provided expert witness testimony in numerous courts in the state last year. Forensic lab results are used to further criminal investigations and ultimately impact the lives of everyone in the state. Working in a forensic lab is a high pressure, but very rewarding, career.
