Martin Scorsese recently called comic book movies "theme park rides" and the internet had a collective meltdown over it. Coupled with the release of his latest film, The Irishman, now seems like a pretty good time to discuss a Scorsese film! Join us this week as we dig into 1986's THE COLOR OF MONEY!
The Color of Money follows retired pool hustler Fast Eddie (Paul Newman) taking a young hotshot named Vince (Tom Cruise) under his wing. With Vince's girlfriend Carmen (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) in tow, they hit the road for a 9-ball tournament in Atlantic City.
Produced by The Band's Robbie Robertson, the soundtrack features classic rock mainstays like Eric Clapton, Robert Palmer and B.B. King. Oh, and there's also a little ditty by one Warren Zevon. Perhaps you've heard it? Also in this episode, Joe and Libby find themselves hopelessly addicted to pitching bigger and better sequels to this film, because that's just the world we live in now. It's a wild ride, so hop in and let's roll!
