Episode 257: Proverbs 8

Today's prayer meditation is on Proverbs 8

Father God, I hear wisdom calling. I hear understanding raising her voice at the busiest intersections of my life. From her, I learn good sense. She tells me how to live well. She tells me how to live my best.

I savor and relish truth. I can't stand the taste of evil. I speak only true and right words from my mouth, not one syllable is twisted or skewed. 

I open my mind, ready for truth. I prefer life discipline over chasing after money and I prefer your knowledge over a lucrative career. Wisdom is better than all the trappings of wealth. Nothing I could wish for holds a candle to wisdom. 

Wisdom lives next door to sanity. Knowledge and discretion live just down the street.

Father, fearing you means hating evil. I hate evil ways with a passion -- pride and arrogance and crooked talk. I seek good counsel and common sense as one of my characteristics. I have both understanding and the virtue to live it out. 

I love wisdom. I seek it and I find it. Wealth and glory accompany wisdom. Also substantial honor and a good name. The benefits of wisdom are worth more than a six-figure salary, and the returns exceed any imaginable bonuses. 

I find wisdom in the paths of righteousness, that's where she walks. Wisdom fills my arms with life. 

Father, you made wisdom first -- the foundation -- before you did anything else. Long before you created the Earth. Wisdom was there before the oceans, rivers springs, and lakes. Before mountains were sculpted and hills took shape, wisdom was there. Before you stretched out Earth's horizons and tended to the details of soil and weather, before you set the sky in place, wisdom was there. 

With wisdom, you gave borders to the ocean. You built the vast vault of Heaven and staked out the foundation of the Earth. Wisdom celebrated your marvelous creation with you. 

I embrace the ways of wisdom and I am most blessed. I live a life of discipline, living wisely and not squandering my precious life. I am blessed because I listen to wisdom. 

I awake ready for wisdom each morning, alert and responsive as I start my day. In wisdom, I find real life and Your good pleasure, Father. 

So be it.
