My Labor Radio is hosted by Mark Gevaart, and is broadcast on WELT 95.7 FM in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Labor Radio interviews working people and reviews data and information essential to working families. In the words of Labor Leader Walter Reuther “There's a direct relationship between the ballot box and the bread box, and what the union fights for and wins at the bargaining table can be taken away in the legislative halls.”
Mark joined the United Auto Workers (UAW) early in his working life. He has spent the last 30 plus years as an advocate for working Americans in and outside of his own local. He understands the importance of having a voice in a workplace and the support of a labor agreement. Mark finds the idea of doing a Community Access Radio program about labor a rewarding experience. Involved in many organizing campaigns, contract negotiations, arbitration, the writing of contract language, and being on the picket line, Mark has a strong history of support for the American worker.
About the Labor Radio Podcast Network
Launched in April 2020, the Labor Radio Podcast Network focuses on working class issues that are often overlooked in the corporate-controlled media. The goal of the network is to help raise the voices of working people and strengthen organized labor to demand and achieve better treatment from workplaces and elected officials.
The Labor Radio Podcast Network is both a one-stop shop for audiences looking for labor content and a resource for labor broadcasters and podcasters. Resources include a weekly podcast summarizing shows produced by network members, marketing on social media, a website listing network shows and how audiences can find them, a database for contacting expert guests, access to a private listserv for Network members, and a weekly video call to increase solidarity and support amongst members.
