Ep #115 - Conflict avoidance is you not speaking your truth to someone because you are afraid of the outcome. Your partner leaves a mess and you are cursing them in your head. Your roommate eats your food and leaves dishes in the sink and you are secretly calculating how you are going to eat all their food and leave dirty dishes in their pillow case.
These examples are the easy, funny ones - but what about the conversations you are avoiding about your grades, your partying, and your behaviors that you aren't stepping into with your parents, friends, and loved ones because you are deathly afraid of their response?
The longer you avoid the conflict the deeper it screws into your skull. The bigger the story of the horrors that await you become in your psyche and ALL of this deeply effects your stress, anxiety, and overall emotional health.
How many addictions, depressions, and suicides can we as a society avoid if we STOP AVOIDING CONFLICT.
Today I will discuss how conflict avoidance has been haunting me like a silent emotional vampire and how I am committed to changing this behavior in myself for the betterment of everyone around me, my loved ones, my inner circle - and most importantly, myself.
