Where We Live - The Salem Eco Globe

2019-04-09

Nestled in the popular Riverfront Park in Salem, Oregon is a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork. A globe, three stories tall. Once a storage storage tank for chemicals used in the paper-making process, it spent the 1960's floating from the shipyards in Portland to Salem. When the mill closed, the "acid ball" stayed. Ken Boddie takes a trip to Salem to talk to one of the people behind the original effort to turn a relic of a bygone era into a community project.
