080 - How Long Does It Take to Clean Up My QuickBooks?
Hey, hey, bookkeeping besties! Well, it's summer and we've been traveling a little bit more than we typically do. You know that feeling after a trip when your suitcase sits by the door for a few days? Maybe it's just me and my four kids, but we leave our things a little longer than we should. Maybe you keep thinking, "ugh, unpacking is going to take forever." And so it just sits there, but then when you finally tackle that suitcase, it only takes a few minutes, and it's done! Well that's what I see when I'm cleaning up QuickBooks accounts. Once we start, it often goes faster and sometimes easier than you'd expected. Today we're talking about how to figure out what kind of clean-up you're facing and how long it might take you to get it caught up. So let's jump in. There is zero shame in asking for help. This is what I am exactly here for. I have looked at over 80 QuickBooks files at this point. There is not much that I have not. 079 - Should I Try to Fix My Books Myself or Hire Help?
Hey, hey, bookkeeping besties! Trying to fix your own bookkeeping is a lot like deciding whether to pull your own weeds or hire a landscaper. Both are totally valid at certain stages of life. I have some clients who have come to me, and just with a little bit of direction, education, and support have done fantastic DIYing of their own bookkeeping. I teach them to clean it up, then catch it up, and then keep it all straightened out. Actually, one of my very first clients who I taught how to use QuickBooks has circled back around, and now I'm doing full service bookkeeping for her, and when I got back into her QuickBooks, she had kept it up so well. I want to give you encouragement that it's doable to keep your own books, but I've also seen people with thousands of transactions left to be categorized, no reconciliations done, and a deadline for their tax preparer. They've been really stressed out and they have much more success hiring someone to do it for them. So in both of those scenarios, you just have to know what season of life you're in. We're gonna break this down even more in this episode. Let's dive in!
