The Heart of Summer Sport Safety: Discussing Kid’s Cardiac Health, with Rick Hart

Jun 10th, 2025 6:00 AM

Today's episode is all about youth sports. As the weather gets warmer, organized sports and outdoor activities ramp up. Although there are numerous benefits to youth sports, from physical fitness, to enhanced social skills, and from boosted self-esteem to valuable life lessons, they do come with health risks, not the least of which is SCA or “sudden cardiac arrest.” Recently, laws have gone into effect in states across the country requiring defibrillators and trained individuals to administer them during games and practices. There are many factors that come into play when we think about the health and safety of our children as they're out on the field. On this episode of “Growing Up with Dr. Sarah” I’m joined by Rick Hart. He's a friend and founder and CEO of Jump Start Sports. He's not just building strong athletes. He's helping to lead the way in protecting them through education, policy and preparedness. Please SUBSCRIBE, LIKE & SHARE if this topic interests you!#MomTok #ParentTok #sports #ballgames #parksandrecreation #AED #defibrillator #SCA #suddencardiacarrest #summersportsShare your thoughts, questions, show ideas:Have questions about today’s episode, or anything else related to the health and wellness of your family?
