In many cultures, we are shown that a display of sadness and grief is unpalatable and unwelcome.  As people that go through menopause, this is bad news.  

Grief occurs when we experience any kind of loss or change.  It is not limited to death and bereavement.  So a rising of grief during menopause is natural.
