CHAPTER 12 – Applying Your New Routine and Acting Upon Your Vision
Intentionality – the best word to use in describing the entire purpose of this book. In the words of Jim Carrey, “Life does not happen TO us; life happens FOR us.”
There are really two groups of people in this world:
GROUP #1
Those who live life as it comes to them, going day to day expending their energy and thoughts on the problems of the past or present. They will typically “settle” into whatever hand life has dealt to them. This group is frequently entrenched in debating about what is wrong in the world, and the only way they can rise above it is to pull others down.
This group will trap themselves into a limited vision under the weight of reactive thinking and acting. They live each day repeating the same routine with the same perceptions at the same level of knowledge while keeping the same standards without fail, yet expecting different results. When nothing ever changes, they grumble, find fault or simply degrade themselves for their limitations, but never really understand why their ship doesn’t come in.
The results of living in this group are often summed up in a victim mentality. They are often broken, discouraged and feeling as if the odds are against them. They will typically maintain a survival mentality of “just getting by,” denying there are any other possibilities and criticizing those who find a better way. They will often judge and mock those who are willing to step up to see their dreams happen because they are not willing to do what it takes.
GROUP #2
This group refuses to accept the “status quo.” They are unwilling to simply watch life “happen” to them. The individuals who sum up this group are only about 10% of the entire population, according to most statistics. Each day, they awake with zeal and energy for the opportunity of another day to work purposefully on seeing their dreams to fruition. They will often arise in the early hours of the morning, long before sunrise, spending the first hour of the day to empower themselves by creating a strong mind and body.
This group typically has as many problems as the first group, but are unwilling to allow their problems to overtake them. Instead they choose to use their problems as a springboard for growth becoming better, instead of bitter on life.
They have clear vision and purpose with a plan to carry it out no matter what it takes.
This group is relentless at taking 100% responsibility for where they are today and where they will be tomorrow. Whenever they encounter setbacks, critics, tragedies or failures, they bounce back quickly and seek for answers, having little or no time to spend on negative influences or mindsets.
They spend each day with intentionality making the most of every moment and utilizing that moment on things that push them forward into their destiny. They know their priorities and keep their commitments to the things that are important to them. This group is one of the most misunderstood groups in society because they are thought of as weird, zealous, over passionate, irritatingly positive or my personal favorite, “just lucky,” even though the majority of them started with little or no advantages.
