Mayo were narrowly edged out of it by Kerry last weekend but the next test facing James Horan's team is approaching rapidly, as they head to Omagh on Saturday to renew acquaintances with All-Ireland champions Tyrone. In this episode of the Mayo News Football Podcast, host Rob Murphy is joined by podcast regulars Ger Flanagan and Stephen Drake, as well as by Colm Keys of the Irish Independent, to look back at the Kerry match and to look ahead to the Tyrone game.
Reviewing the match in Tralee, the lads consider the strength of Mayo's midfield, the chances missed by the visitors and the way the contest swung back in Kerry's favour at the finish. The David Clifford/Oisín Mullin match-up also gets a mention, as does Cillian O'Connor's delayed return to the team and the best option for deploying Aidan O'Shea. Turning to the Tyrone game, the lads talk about the large number of defections from their panel this year and how poor discipline has cost them dearly so far in this campaign. The ongoing dispute about expenses between the GAA and the GPA also gets a mention.
