17. Cream
‘Cream Of The Crop’
In 1966, 3 of the UK’s most renowned and sought after musicians united and set aside their differences to form the band that would create, pioneer and define the ‘Electric Blues Rock’ movement in Britain. Having all left other bands and projects to further this endeavour, Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker came together, as Rock’s first supergroup, to form Cream!
In their short time together, Cream pushed the boundaries of what British Blues was - by pioneering the use of the electric guitar & the status of ‘lead guitarist’, incorporating elements of Hard Rock, Psychedelia and Jazz into their music and setting the bar so high for other acts heavily influenced by the Blues, but wanting to find their own sound.
Laz & Felipe choose their favourite Cream songs, discuss the history and relationship of the band, identify and discuss the similarities and differences between the Cream albums and figure out how and why these three guys did what they had to do to certify themselves and live up to their self appointed reputation as the cream of the crop!
