About Miguel Almario:
Miguel Almario is a Filipino-American dancer and choreographer. Miguel started his dance career as a B-boy, competing in the Washington D.C. and East Coast Breaking scene. After joining Culture Shock DC, Miguel was introduced to numerous dance styles under the Hip-Hop and street style umbrella, training under some of the DMV greats such as Tony Tzar, Joseph Nontanavan, Joesar Alva, JoJo Diggs, and Lyle Beniga.
Miguel is a co-founder of The Arete Project, a Seattle based dance organization that aims to educate, empower, and equip students of all ages and experience levels with tools and knowledge to take their dance journey into their own hands.
Ever the student, Miguel continues to pursue knowledge of history and cultural context of Hip-Hop, and street styles. Miguel believes that advocacy for the cultures that created these dances can deepen our understanding and enrich our experience with art forms and help inform the creation of equitable spaces.
Earning his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at MGH IHP, Miguel has brought his passion for dance into the health and wellness space with the aim of improving dance performance and longevity.
