Episode 79 welcomes back Child, Adolescent, and Family Psychologist, Dr. Emily King to the show to talk about traveling with Neurodivergent children. Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD are all examples of being Neurodiverse.
Not all children process information in the same way. That is fact. There is nothing wrong with these children, they simply process information differently. But there are some things that parents should be aware of as they travel. Dr. Emily does a masterful job, as always, of laying out some potential pitfalls and things parents should be aware of as they plan vacations with neurodiverse children.
We talk about things that lead up to an emotional meltdown. How children process information during one of those moments that parents dread. How do we need to react as parents.
One of my biggest takeaways was Dr. Emily's mention of these trips as "Family Field Trips" and what we're really doing in these moments is teaching our children how to travel.
I love doing this podcast and we've been blessed with some wonderful guests, but I really urge you to listen to this show and follow Dr. Emily and her parenting course at www.parentingonyourownpath.com. Listen to episode 79 today!
