EP219: Michael Beck, Missional Imagination, & Following the Holy Spirit
What if what the church needs isn't more of the same. What if it really needs something different. The challenge of church disruption, of innovation even, can be couched in two different mindsets. One is a prideful innovation, one where we know what's best for know what's best for a person, and pridefully lead the person or persons in the way that we think best. The second, though is a humble innovation, one that is led by the Spirit. One that acknowledges that He is, and that we are not.
This is where Missional Imagination comes in. Thinking outside the box, doing something different, but realizing that the missional impact does not come from our efforts, but our dependence on the Holy Spirit in and through our lives.
IS GOD MOVING THROUGH US, OR ARE WE WORKING REALLY HARD?This is the question we asked Michael Beck. With a storied career, Michael works helping fresh expressions of church launch across America, and has experience with metaverse churches, digital churches, prison ministries, homeless, and much more. Author of many books in the Digital/Fresh Expression space, Michael has spent years championing out-of-the box thinking, if for no other reason than positioning the person in a place of humility. So what is Missional Imagination, and how does it lead us to a place of dependence on the Holy Spirit? Let's dig in and find out.
