Do you avoid new things because you're afraid of what might go wrong?
On today's podcast episode we are talking about an exciting topic that also feels scary. This is the topic around supporting your neurodiverse child undertaking new experiences no matter how old they are.
Of course, what is new and scary for each family is different. Some parents avoid taking their child to the grocery store, afraid they’ll have a meltdown in public. Others desire to bring their child on a family vacation but have no idea how to make it doable and enjoyable. I support families in climbing this new mountain, regardless of how easy or intimidating it looks to others.
Recently, I had the unique experience of bringing both my neurotypical daughter and my neurodiverse son on a field trip to the New York Mets game. The experience for each child was fascinatingly different, and it required me to bring my parenting A game. What started off a little shaky turned into a phenomenal, confidence building experience. The same can happen for you too.
