375: Why I Don’t Teach Weight Loss as a Dietitian
In the beginning, 10 years ago, I was totally sold on it. I so firmly believed that people could live off the 1,200 calories diets I was giving them. That they lacked discipline when they didn’t stick to the plan. I was judgmental of OTHERS eating habits because I was JUDGING MYSELF.
Overtime, I woke up to the realities of the negative impacts of dieting. Now, my business helps undo those damages.
We teach women and people how to make peace with food and trust their bodies again. I know if I’m helping someone who chronically diets, or restricts and binge eats, or who has disordered eating, or who struggles with orthorexia or a past with an eating disorder that I’m helping them, not harming them.
