Corey Child, aka The Best Hunter on TikTok, joins Sam on The Wild Initiative to talk about authenticity in media and the truth of hunting. Sam and Corey catch up a bit, talking about how they met via TikTok and some of the weird videos they’ve made. They discuss the differences between pen-raised and high-fence animals and private versus public land hunting along with the biases against each. Corey and Sam then discuss authenticity and owning the truth of what your hunt is as well as the unrealistic expectations that can come from hunting media. They move on to tell some elk hunting stories and Corey talks about his experience being too close for comfort with a bull during archery season. Finally, they close out the discussion, talking about hunter recruitment and arguments on the very unlevel playing field of social media.
