Icons | The Story of the FirstNet Authority, Segment 3
More than 10 years ago, FirstNet - The Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network was created as part of the Middle-Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act (Public Law 112-96), which was officially signed into law on February 22, 2012. As a result, the FirstNet Authority was given authorization to carry out the building, deployment, and operation of the network. Part of the law also required the FirstNet Authority to establish relationships with federal, state, tribal, and local public safety entities to ensure the network meets the needs of public safety across the country. A testament to the trust and belief in the FirstNet Authority is its continued growth by amassing more than four million users to date.
In Segment 3 of the Story of FirstNet, we’re joined by Chris Moore and Sue Swenson to hear about the initial hurdles of getting the FirstNet Authority off the ground. There were questions about how long the entire process would take and the convincing that needed to happen at all stages of the government.
