有件事可以一窥王兴的战略眼光和杀伐决断。
美团基于团购业务数据分析,发现了电影票在线选座购票的机会,于是孵化了猫眼,并且慢慢还做到了行业第一,最终收购行业老二腾讯微票儿。
之后他们对这个业务抽丝剥茧:电影票市场规模就那么点,如果想继续成长,就要介入到电影创投制宣发放,这个业务太重了,商业模型太不性感了,并且最重要的是,偏离美团未来的发展轨道了。
于是很简单直接,美团把这个已经做到行业第一的业务卖了。美团把猫眼卖给了光线,仅保留部分股份,换回部分现金及光线股份,并且和光线猫眼签订合作协议,让其付费在美团域内获取流量——这是腾讯跟京东拼多多美团等合作模式的完美拷贝:
某个业务我不想做了,而你做的不错或者特别想做,你对我生态域又有所求,于是我把手头业务打包卖给你,持有你的股份,拿你的现金,我赚了第一份钱;你花钱从我域内买流量,我赚了第二份钱;你把业务做好做大了,我持有的股份也更值钱了,我赚了第三份钱。
只是腾讯讲话更好听,把这种关系叫作“把半条命交给合作伙伴”。但不是所有人都有资格和自信,既能挣到钱,又能说漂亮话。漂亮把钱挣了,比站着把钱挣了,技术难度更高。

阿里布局大文娱,本意是想通过介入作为流量起点的内容业务,去输血作为流量终点的电商业务,缓解电商天生的流量饥渴症。但最后阴差阳错,大文娱业务不但在财务上难以自力更生,需要集团源源不断的砸钱,甚至连流量和会员都不能自给自足,需要集团各业务线的施舍。
高明的猎人,往往以猎物的姿态出现。阿里收购优酷,看起来马云是猎人,古永锵是猎物。但古永锵又何尝不是一个伪装成猎物的高明猎人呢,他先后两次从阿里拿到60多亿美元“彩礼”,顺利而理想的将优酷“嫁”了出去,并且像一个在婚礼上该有的合格的老父亲那样,对此表现出万般不舍。那是2016年。
如今七年过去,行业老大爱奇艺前不久进ICU市值跌到20亿美元以下,而今进KTV市值仍不及阿里七年前“迎娶”优酷时付出的“彩礼”——除了“彩礼”,阿里自迎娶这个大宝贝到如今七年,又付出了和“彩礼”等额甚至更多的“保养”费用。而优酷还只是阿里众多荆棘中的一株,众多泪水中的一滴。
