History is something that affects all of us today; we really can’t understand our modern world without knowing the context behind all of it. In today’s episode, Jake Wynn shares his story of learning about and studying history throughout his life, and how his love for history has shaped his career path. Jake’s leadership role with Visit Frederick plays a big part in the community; this organization truly values building relationships and helping people get the best possible experience while visiting Frederick, MD.
Jake has always found history fascinating, specifically 19th century American history. Learning is a central part of who Jake is, and he’s learned a great deal from reading history over the years. He believes that we can actually derive important leadership lessons and styles from what previous leaders have done successfully (and unsuccessfully) to better help us with what’s going on in our world today. Jake’s positivity in life shines through; he really values clear communication, face-to-face interaction, and genuine relationships in his life.

“Our nonprofit here at Visit Frederick is focused on attracting visitors from about 50 miles outside of the county (or farther), to come into the county, and we want to put our best foot forward in doing that. My role is to work with all of the individuals, organizations, and businesses in Frederick County to show people why they should come and spend their very valuable dollars here, and why it’s worth their while for that experience of what they’ll get in Frederick.”
