"It's ok to be a copycat. As long as you copy the right cat."
An episode about mentors and the powerful effect they have on our self-image and our values. You know that feeling when you meet someone you really admire and suddenly you start acting, speaking, and thinking like them? Well, that's called introjection and it's a fascinating subconscious process that happens to us all.
Rodney is a self-proclaimed 'conscious copycat'. He claims that dead and imaginary people played a larger part in his development than the living did. He also shared the list of iconic individuals who have influenced him over the years, and how he consciously copied their traits and behaviors to shape his own identity.
Rodney urges more awareness of this mental and psychological process. Imagine the possibilities of intentionally selecting our mentors and adopting their positive qualities to become our best selves.
