42. Doing Golf Differently with Haley Bookholdt
Tori sits down with social media influencer Haley Bookholdt.
She began her golf journey at nine years old during the 2008 recession. Her father, an avid golfer himself, encouraged Haley to pursue their shared passion. In 2017, she had the opportunity to attend Elon University on a golf scholarship.
Listen in as Haley talks about the mental and emotional challenges that came with her role as a college athlete, as well as the frustrating experience of transitioning to recreational golf later on.
Haley shares her experience as an influencer on Instagram and TikTok, and how she overcame the pressures of pleasing her male followers to display her authentic self on social media, which is to be a model for fellow female golfers.
Finally, Haley talks about the future of women’s golf in our male-dominated space, and why she believes that true representation can only be achieved when more women “claim the game as their own”.
