Table Talks: Do we judge others' outings and lifestyle within the LGBTQ+ community?
Send us a Text Message.
In today's Table Talks episode of the Coffee with Keith podcast, I simply wanted to raise the issue of judgement I seem to often witness within the greater LGBTQ+ community. Maybe I am more sensitive to it as an older adult. Why? Because, living as many years as I have, I have seen the good and the bad about being queer within the society of the day. I lived during those years where safety was questioned if one came out. I lived during those days when one dared not show their real identity. And although I know this still exists today, I will tell you that it is no where near as bad as it was forty or fifty years ago. So, I say that only to acknowledge the plight of many older adults within the community who may have even had to live their identity only behind closed doors or dare not stand too close to their partner in fear. This was a real thing. So, we shouldn't be surprised that these same people don't always feel the call, need, or even desire, to sing out their identity online or from a soap box. They choose to live it privately and quietly. But, what do they sometimes get...judged and ridiculed. So, in this episode, I am simply making mention of this and asking the question: Is this right?
So, my dear friend, grab that cup of coffee, have a seat at my table, and let's chat on this episode of Coffee with Keith.
