96. Former Olympian on discipline, resilience, self belief and failure w/ Ian Campbell
No one knows about building true self-discipline, grit and resilience more than an Olympic athlete. In the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games, now one of the most controversial Olympic Games ever, Ian Campbell smashed the triple jump world record only for his jumps to be called as fouls, a ruling that has since been recognised as an unfair decision by the Australian Olympic Committee. Retiring from athletics at 24 after a career ending injury, Campbell found himself completely lost and without a job that had defined his entire identity. For more than 35 years since his injury, he's grown quite the CV - he was former Director of Sports Marketing at Nike, started the NBA in Australia and is currently CEO of Arms Physical Testing - the world's largest aggregated sports database.
