Episode 416: Alright Scary - "Sleeping With the Enemy" (1991)

We’re kicking off Alright Scary with the mild, uncomplicated thrills of 1991’s “Sleeping With the Enemy.” Julia Roberts goes on a journey of identities, hairstyles and cross-country bus travel to escape from her abusive husband Patrick Bergin and start new life in Iowa and perhaps also in the hirsute arms of Kevin Anderson’s Ben, who will not stop jump-scaring her. Jerry Goldsmith’s score classes up the joint, and we have much to say about baths, carnival scenes, Nancy Fish on the bus, the cast of “Enough”, foyer finales and whether Laura/Sara could be arrested for faking her death.
