Andy Winig, a networking and elevator pitch coach, discusses the importance of good elevator pitches and how to create them. He shares a funny story about how he learned the importance of marketing over truth while working as an engineer at a trade show.
Andy explains two types of elevator pitches: 30-second pitches and conversation starters. He believes that conversation starters are more effective because they allow you to get to know the other person and find common ground before launching into a sales pitch.
Andy also emphasizes the importance of being specific in your elevator pitch. He says it's better to focus on one particular aspect of your business or target audience than try to cram everything in.
Finally, Andy talks about the importance of practice. He recommends that people practice their elevator pitches in front of a mirror or recorder to get comfortable with them and ensure they are delivering their message clearly and effectively.
Andy says that people can get their elevator pitches right away, but it may take some practice. He recommends that people start by writing down a few different pitches and then testing them out on friends, family, or colleagues. Once you find a pitch that works well, you can start practicing it regularly so that it becomes second nature.
