#069 How To Give Yourself Vacation Pay As a Self-Employed Massage Therapist with Emilie McKay, RMT and Coach
This is a recording of a coaching call between myself (Krista Dicks, RMT) and Emilie McKay, RMT (@Thermtpreneur). I was getting ready to leave on holiday and I have been purposely saving to give myself time off to alleviate my financial stress while on holiday. Talking to Emilie gave me clarity and helped answered my questions.
You are not alone in navigating a successful massage practice while being self-employed. We often over complicate or overwork ourselves when it comes to taking time off and we may even daydream about what it's like to have paid vacation days if we worked with the government or a larger company.
I hope this episode answers your questions and encourages you to to write your own cheque while you are enjoying some much needed rest and recovery as a healthcare provider.
Emilie and I discuss:
- How much do you really need to set aside for 1, 2 or 3 weeks off?
- Do you calculate on gross or net income?
- Best options for savings accounts to maximize growth
- Why time is on your side
- Why trying to make up the hours will lead to burnout
