Web Design Step 4: Taking Your Website to the Finish Line | Website Development Tutorial
Welcome to the final step in our website development series! If you missed any of the previous steps, you can catch up by checking out the playlist here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLd-Q6qZNFcQ8zDLRFbI6j-dwljQN0lcgE. In a nutshell, we've covered a lot in this series. Step one was all about outlining your website, step two involved transferring those ideas onto a blank website, and step three was about refining the design to match your vision. Now, in step 4, we're crossing the finish line. This episode isn't specific to any website platform like Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress. Instead, it provides a broad perspective on the process. While there are countless step-by-step tutorials out there, not many take a holistic approach. This step is often the most trial-and-error phase of the entire process. In this episode, I'll share the challenges I encountered and how I overcame them, including: - Creating contact forms, from simple to more complex ones. - Embedding YouTube playlists instead of single videos. - Ensuring the mobile version of the website looks just as polished. - Maintaining consistency throughout all pages. - Optimizing each page for a tidy appearance and faster loading. - Ensuring all buttons work as intended. - Integrating a sign-up form for my Substack newsletter at http://philsvitek.substack.com. - Making last-minute adjustments to improve the website (for me, it was adding an Altruism page). - Finalizing all the necessary photos and assets. - Revising elements that seemed good in one section but were excessive for the rest (in my case, it was my gallery of people). I hope this mini-series has guided you in approaching your website development or revamp. If you're just starting out, keep it simple with a portfolio, a bio, and a contact page. As you gain confidence in website design, you can expand your site. Remember, there are plenty of fantastic tutorials on platforms like YouTube, and Google is your friend when you have questions. BTW, here's the WordPress Elementor Tutorial that I watched: https://youtu.be/NdGfSifOPu4?si=yGDVyvAvu1iy3msf. You can also find skilled professionals to help you on platforms like Fiverr, Upwork, or Codeable (this one is only if you're using WordPress). Feel free to leave your questions and thoughts in the comments, and don't forget to subscribe for more helpful content. Lastly, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could explore my finished and polished website at http://philsvitek.com. There's a wealth of resources and information waiting for you, all intended to assist you in various ways. Thanks you! RESOURCES/LINKS:
