The importance of rupture and repair — a client's story on how they broke up and did the necessary work to get back together| Ep 82

We toss around the idea of having to have the breakdown to have the breakthrough, but what does that actually look like? It's the main reason I wanted to sit down with my former client, Whitley, and discuss what the last few years of her relationship have looked like. There's been time together, there's been time apart, there's been working through a lot of stuff.

In this episode we discuss:

• The nature of their relationship and how breakups and time apart have served them
• The internal work that made it possible for them to come back together
• What that internal work consisted of, specifically, for Whitley 
• What it looked like to fully surrender the relationship — i.e. release the idea that there was certainty in getting back together
• How the work Whitley did reflects the necessary work anyone would need to do in order to enter into their next partnership in a different way (OR strengthen their current one)
• How Whitley's life has changed drastically outside of the breakup (who she is, profession, how she sees herself, where her life is headed) and how that was/is deeply related to the overall health of the relationship
