Will Brian Kelly be a legitimate candidate as the Michigan Wolverines next head coach?
It has been rumored over the last few weeks that if Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh left to take a head coaching job in the NFL, LSU head coach Brian Kelly would be interested in taking over in Ann Arbor. Now that it seems close to a done deal that Harbaugh will be the next head coach with the Los Angeles Chargers, is it a realistic possibility that Brian Kelly would be a candidate to fill that vacancy? Would Brian Kelly actually be interested in taking the job?
Kelly left Notre Dame to take the head coaching job at LSU when the Tigers had 40 scholarship players in the Texas Bowl against the Kansas State Wildcats. The program was left in disarray after the last coaching regime was let go. Kelly has spent the past two seasons re-building the foundation of LSU football and instituting his beliefs and ideals of a winning football program. It also doesn't hurt that Kelly has had a lot of success throughout the rebuilding process: back-to-back ten win seasons, a trip to the SEC Championship Game in his first season and a Heisman Trophy winning quarterback in Jayden Daniels in his second season. Would Brian Kelly want to leave what he has built in Baton Rouge to basically do it all over again with the Wolverines?
