The question is how do we interpret this parable?
There are those who say, “Oh, the denarius is salvation, and at the end, whether you get saved late in life, whether you get saved early in life doesn’t matter
Well, what it really means is that in the end no matter how long you serve, whether you are faithful or unfaithful you’re going to get the same reward
Well, the only way to look at it is to think that the folks who came at five o’clock worked so hard; they did as much work as those who showed up at six in the morning.
God is giving them more than they deserve, and I think that really the bottom line is this. What God is dealing with here – what Jesus is dealing with - is the attitude with which we serve.
3 LESSONS
We should serve God in faith without bargaining.
We must serve him in submission.
Submission without envy.
Submit without envy
We must serve with Thanksgiving and joy rather than grumbling
“For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. 2 He agreed to pay them a denarius[a] for the day and sent them into his vineyard.
