A Black Living Room Exhibition at LSU with Narcissa Haskins & Lauren Lay
LSU Librarians Narcissa Haskins and Lauren Lay just
did something unusually excellent -- they recreated a black living room from the 1970s, complete with wood paneling, period furniture, shelves of books, and more. The exhibition, which they collaborated on with Dr. Asha Winfield, an assistant professor in LSU's Manship School of Mass Communication, was created to pay tribute to black women's biopics and black living room pedagogy.
In this episode we listen to Narcissa and Lauren talk about their experience creating this display, the reaction that LSU students and faculty had to the display, and why this amazing effort was worth it.
And stay tuned to hear Narcissa and Lauren play LOUIS Trivia!
