Thea Mengelers "Nach den Fähren" ist ein Inselroman. Eines Tages landen am Hafen einer namenlosen Insel keine Fähren mehr. Ohne Fähren kein Tourismus, nur leere Hotels und Restaurants. Die Verbliebenen leben ihre Routinen in dem, was übrig bleibt. Das sind leere Strände, aber da ist auch Hoffnung auf das, was einst mit den Fähren und dem Tourismus verschwand. In Alltag und Stille beschreibt Thea Mengeler Bedingungen von Gemeinschaft.
